Deeper Waters is a project begun during quarantine due to the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic. The work deals with issues of domesticity, intimacy, and the mental states that result from prolonged periods of isolation. My partner and I both agreed to expose the vulnerable sides of ourselves in an endeavor to document this time of quarantine with each other.

My goal was to capture what life looks and feels like for us at this unprecedented moment in our history. By turning my camera on the world that we create for ourselves, I sought to highlight the behavior that results from living together in a closed system of sorts. Reconstruction and deconstruction, both mental and physical (we decided to use this time to remodel and my medication was altered drastically) are evident here.

Time doesn’t move the same in isolation and I was seeking to create metaphors for the way that felt. The process of photographing our daily routine started to produce patterns and connections that I didn’t notice before. This is the end goal of the project; to produce images that are tied to each other and that are able to show something that was hidden before.
